smackenzie: (sam and aurelian)
"You're panicking."

Sam looked up, a little startled, because he'd actually been thinking. Doing the mature thing and not freaking out and saying no right away. Trying to work out what it meant and what he was supposed to do now and had his feelings changed, and how? Wondering how he was going to tell people that not only was he seeing a guy, but he was seeing a dead guy.

(That last question at least was easy to answer. He wasn't going to tell anyone he was seeing a dead guy. They wouldn't believe him, or they'd tease him unmercifully about falling for a pretentious psuedo-goth, or - worst case scenario - they'd want proof. And he just did not want people trying to trap Aurelian with crosses or holy water or garlic or whatever would actually hurt him.)

it's wednesday morning now in the sam-and-aurelian-verse. this is what happens next:

aurelian gets home to find a message from clare, who called tuesday night when he was at sam's. he doesn't actually talk to her until later, after the sun has set, when he tells her he finally told sam, sam kinda wigged but didn't take it as badly as aurelian expected, and they're going to meet that night and deal with it. he has hope. clare wishes him luck.

sam goes to work, doesn't tell anyone about his exciting night, calls spencer at home during a break and leaves a message that he slept with aurelian, he really liked it, he thinks he might be in love with the guy and is pretty certain aurelian feels the same, but he's wigging a little and the whole thing is too weird and he has a gig tonight and he'll talk to her tomorrow.

of course by the time he meets aurelian at the diner he's decided that he'd rather be with him and occasionally ick about the bloodsucking than not be with him at all.

they go back to aurelian's house, having decided talking about this highly personal and possibly very private stuff in a public place isn't the brightest idea, and of course end up bumping uglies. well, sam hasn't tried sex on his hands and knees yet.... he stays the night this time.

in the morning, obviously, they realize that yeah, things will be weird and complicated and difficult (and what is sam going to tell his mom, anyway?) but they can do it. aurelian impulsively asks sam to move in with him, and sam of course says no immediately. (it takes another couple weeks, i can't remember how many. maybe one or two. whatever.)

that's where it ends, and then there's an epilogue. cut to the present, their...uh...three year anniversary (have to check that), which aurelian counts from the very first night he saw the trio play at the club. some sam reflection. aurelian comes home with the wings lizzie made for him. sam shows him his new tattoo. there's smut and all is right with the world.

and that's the end.

i can get 6000 words out of that, right?

Aurelian was momentarily tempted to walk home, because he so infrequently got to go outside during the day, but he was afraid the sky was going to clear - it had stopped raining sometime very early that morning - and the last thing he wanted to see was a ray of sunshine. So he hailed a cab.

He thought about Sam all the way home and tried not to hope too much. But Sam had all but said he was interested in Aurelian. Hadn't he said he always say no to things right away, but almost always changed his mind? He'd given Aurelian hope. Aurelian just prayed it wasn't a false hope. Waking up that morning with Sam in his arms had solidified things for him, and he alternated between mentally beating himself up for putting himself in this position, and mentally applauding himself for loosening up enough to love a mortal.

Because no question, he was in love with a mortal boy.
