Danny was fast asleep in Parrish's car when they finally got to Laurie's apartment. The kid was very hard to wake up, and in fact Laurie and Parrish heaved him out of the car and up to the apartment without him ever coming fully awake.

They took Danny into the bedroom, dropped him on the bed, pulled off his shoes, and pulled the blankets over him. He rolled over and mumbled something into the pillow, and Laurie and Parrish went back out to the other room, first closing the bedroom door behind them. Laurie thanked Parrish again - twice - and Parrish said it was no problem.

"This isn't how the night was supposed to end," Laurie said. "We were going to - well, you know."

"We'll get another chance. I'd like to see you again."

"Yeah, me too. We've still got some... stuff... to finish." Laurie managed a grin. Parrish grinned back.

"Will he be ok?" Parrish inclined his head towards the bedroom.

"I think so. I hope so. I think he's just gotta sleep it off. I don't know about the rest of it, though - you think he's gonna remember in the morning that he met a boy at the Blind Pig who tried to molest him?" Laurie hoped Lea at least gave the club's manager a good tongue-lashing. She could work up a better head of steam than he could. He thought maybe he'd gotten a little of his non-aggressiveness from his mom.

Oh, shit. Mom.

"I have to call my folks," he told Parrish. "I was supposed to bring Danny home."

"Ok," Parrish said. "Let me give you my phone number." He looked around, probably for a piece of paper. Laurie found a pad of Post-Its and a pen in one of the kitchen drawers and wrote his home phone and cell phone numbers on the top Post-It. He ripped it off and gave it to Parrish, who looked it over and stuck it in his pocket. He held out his hand for the pad and pen and Laurie gave them to him. Parrish scribbled his home phone, his office phone, and his cell phone on the pad and handed it back.

"Thanks," Laurie said. "This kind of thing doesn't happen to me a lot. Danny was just having kind of a crisis. I thought it would help to take him to the Pig...." Yeah, he was a big help.

"I'm not scared off. I still want to see you and do some of those things we talked about. I want to do all of them, and more."

They shared a goodnight kiss and then another one, and then Parrish said goodnight and "Will you call me tomorrow and let me know how your brother is?" and then he was gone.

Laurie sighed with regret, because he'd really been looking forward to going back to Parrish's house and maybe letting the guy take pictures of him, and then definitely having a nice long fuck, but he had to take care of his half brother. Besides, they'd exchanged numbers, and Laurie was pretty sure Parrish wouldn't want to wait much longer to meet him.

He called home and told his mom, who answered the phone, that Danny was staying over at his place, and he'd take him to school in the morning if he was feeling ok. They must've had a bad fish or something, Laurie explained, and Danny was feeling pretty crappy and didn't think he could ride Laurie's bike back home without puking all over the place.

"Is he ok?" his mom asked, sounding worried.

"Yeah, he'll be fine," Laurie told her. "He just needs to sleep it off." He hoped that was true. "If he's ok in the morning I'll make him breakfast and take him to school. Otherwise he'll probably want to stay here until I have to go to work. Don't worry, Mom, I'm taking good care of him."

"Well, ok...." She didn't sound entirely convinced. "Give him a kiss for me. Good night, baby. I love you."

"I love you too. Night, Mom." He hung up, stuck Parrish's phone number to the handset, and went into the bedroom.

Danny hadn't moved, but he was clearly breathing and Laurie didn't think he had to worry so much any more. There were few places safer than your brother's bed. Well, there was your own bed, but in a pinch someone else's would do.

Laurie got undressed (except of course for his boxers), turned off the light, and climbed in bed.

"I'm sorry, kid," he said softly. "I thought I was helping you. At least you didn't run screaming, right? I'll totally understand if you don't want to talk about this in the morning." He reached out in the dark until he touched Danny's shoulder. "Night, Danny-boy. Dream of cute boys who're interested in you."

Then he rolled over, snuggled under the blankets, and fell asleep too.

sweet and whistfull and - it feels much later in the night than it is, but then if Danny's out on a school night and Laurie's tired from work it would. Parish is intreguing as all hell - and a total gentleman.

well, danny's a pretty resilient kid, and laurie and parrish, uh, hook up later, and lea gets out some aggression on the club owner, then goes home and rants to her boyfriend (who does a lot of "uh-huh" and "ok" and "you're right"), and it's all good.
